The world’s most popular social network is in danger. The Anonymous hacking group announced that on November 5th, they are going to try to put Facebook offline for good.
Anonymous justifies it’s decision by the fact that Facebook sells information about it’s users to Government agencies.
To prevent suck attacks, Facebook hired the most famous hacker in the world, George Hotz ( GeoHot ) In may of this year, a guy famous for jailbreaking the iPhone and the Playstation 3 console.
Furthermore, Facebook officials announced that users who discover errors or breach in security protocols will receive a reward of 500 dollars.
Anonymous has tried to attack Facebook in the past but they failed.
The Anonymous group is also helped by another famous hacking group, LulzSec. The two groups made an alliance in their attempt to attack government organizations and corporations from all over the world.
Anonymous was created by the users of 4chan website, popular amongst hackers and gamers and it gained popularity after they successfully hacked many targets includign RIIA, Mastercard, Sony Playstation, Spanish Polic, and IMF. Also, the hackers published documents regarding some shady Black of America operations.
Anonymous is a group of online activists and they usually send out messages claiming a attack, or announcing one. Their actions are not for profit.
